Product Care
Product Care
To ensure your soap lasts as long as possible, keep it dry between uses by placing it in a well-draining soap dish, away from standing water. Each bar weighs approximately 140g, offering generous use. For larger bars, we recommend cutting the soap into smaller pieces, which helps maintain its freshness and makes it easier to handle. Caring for your soap in this way ensures every wash is as luxurious as the first.
Information
Information
Our soaps are intended for external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes and discontinue use if irritation occurs.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, we recommend speaking with your GP or midwife before using products containing essential oils.
Each bar is handmade and cut by hand in small batches, so you may notice small variations in colour, shape, or pattern from one batch to another. This is a natural part of traditional soapmaking and does not affect the quality of the soap.
From time to time we refine or adjust our recipes as part of the natural evolution of our formulations. As a result, the ingredient list shown on the website may occasionally differ slightly from the one printed on the packaging, depending on when the soap was made.
Our soaps are suitable for all skin types and children over 3 years old.
Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why does handmade soap sometimes look different from the photos?
Each bar is poured and cut by hand in small batches using natural clays, botanical powders, and plant infusions. These ingredients can vary slightly from batch to batch, and colours may soften or fade over time, especially when exposed to light.
These small variations are part of the character of a handcrafted soap. No two bars are exactly alike.
2. What is lye, and is there any left in the bar?
Lye (sodium hydroxide) is an essential part of traditional soapmaking. During the process known as saponification, it reacts with oils and butters and transforms them into soap.
Once the soap has fully cured, no lye remains in the finished bar. What remains is gentle soap along with naturally occurring glycerin, which helps create a comfortable, conditioning cleanse.
3. How long does a bar last, and how should I store it?
Each regular bar weighs approximately 140–145g, though slight variations can occur as the soaps are handmade.
How long a bar lasts will depend on how often it is used and how it is stored. To help your soap last longer, allow it to dry fully between uses. A well-drained soap dish or wooden rack will prevent the bar from sitting in water and help it stay firm for longer.
4. Will natural soap expire or go bad?
Natural soap doesn’t expire in the same way many conventional products do, but it can change gradually over time.
The scent may soften and fade, and in very warm or humid conditions the soap may become softer or develop a slight change in aroma due to the natural oils used in the formulation.
For best results, store unused bars in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
5. Is your soap suitable for sensitive skin, babies, or during pregnancy?
Our soaps are made with plant oils, clays, and carefully selected ingredients designed to be gentle.
For particularly sensitive or reactive skin, we recommend Marigold Meadows, our unscented bar infused with calendula, chamomile, and raw honey.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it’s always a good idea to check with your GP or midwife before using products containing essential oils, as some oils may not be suitable at certain stages of pregnancy.
6. Do all your soaps contain the same ingredients?
No. Each soap is made using its own carefully balanced blend of plant oils, butters, clays, and botanicals.
Some bars contain ingredients such as mango butter, shea butter, cocoa butter, or kokum butter, and feature different clays or botanical infusions. These variations allow each bar to offer its own qualities in terms of lather, texture, and scent.
A full ingredient list is always available on each product page so you can choose the bar that feels right for you.
